FAQs

Why is it "limited"?

Our Organic Limited Edition Uji Matcha is produced by a single small tea farmer in Uji, Kyoto, which means harvests are naturally small and limited in scale. Also Matchasome is the exclusive importer — and the first to ever bring this single-estate matcha out of Japan — the availability of this matcha outside of Japan is limited to us. Once it's gone, it's gone until the next harvest, so we recommend enjoying it while it's available.

Why is Uji matcha special?

Uji matcha is widely considered the most prestigious matcha in the world, thanks to a rare combination of history, geography, and craftsmanship. Uji matcha is widely considered the gold standard of Japanese matcha, and its flavor reflects that reputation. A typical Uji matcha has a rich, full-bodied umami character balanced by a natural sweetness and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel.

Why is Uji matcha culturally important?

It's the matcha traditionally used in chanoyu, the Japanese tea ceremony, and remains the benchmark against which all other matcha is measured. When you drink Uji matcha, you're tasting more than exceptional tea — you're experiencing a living tradition refined over 800 years.
