Our organic genmaicha matcha powder is imported directly from Shizuoka, Japan, known for its picturesque views on the foothills of Mt. Fuji and renowned as the green tea capital of Japan, producing approximately 40% of the country's total green tea. Shizuoka is known for its high quality sencha and its diverse flavors, due to the regions mineral-rich soil and clear water from Mt. Fuji.

How to prepare

Genmaicha Shot: Sift 1 tsp (2-2.5g) of genmaicha matcha powder into a bowl. Pour 30-40 ml of warm water at 70ºC (158°F). Whisk in fast zip-zag motion for around 30 seconds until frothy and clump-free.

Usucha: To drink it pure as usucha, add 30-40ml more water to the genmaicha matcha shot. Enjoy hot or over ice.

Genmaicha Latte: Add 200-300ml of your favorite milk to the matcha shot. Enjoy hot or over ice. Add sweetener like agave syrup if desired.

What's the best way to transfer powdered tea into a container without spilling?

Our genmaicha matcha is extremely fine, so static and air movement can send it flying. Transfer from bag to airtight container over a bowl, tray, or piece of parchment paper to catch any stray powder and sweep back into the container. Avoid squeezing or shaking the bag, which can puff fine matcha dust into the air.

1) Tap the refill bag lightly to settle the powder at the bottom of the refill bag.
2) Cut open the refill bag gently.
3) Place the opening of the refill bag inside the tin before you start pouring — this contains any dust cloud and keeps the powder from escaping into the air.
4) Gently tap the bag to empty it.

How long will the genmaicha matcha powder stay fresh?

For peak flavor, enjoy your genmaicha matcha powder within 4 to 6 weeks of opening when stored properly. It's still safe to consume beyond that window, but the bright, toasty notes are at their best when fresh.
